A meeting of States parties will take place in Geneva on 19 October 2023 to elect members to replace the five current members whose terms expires on 31 December 2023.
The Committee against Torture is composed of 10 independent experts who are persons of high moral standing and recognized competence in the field of human rights. Members are elected for a term of four years by States parties in accordance with article 17 of the Convention against Torture. Members serve in their personal capacity and may be re-elected if renominated.
States parties to the Convention are invited to nominate their candidates by 16 June 2023: E | F | S.
